Christian Leadership

Christlike leadership that equips others and emphasizes humility with sacrificial service.

Because I want to support godly servants in ministering

according to the ways God has called them, I will…

Goal:

Recruit volunteers to teach and shepherd children.

Strategies:

  1. I will develop materials and information to present at the church volunteer fair.

  2. I will develop strategies for inviting individuals to volunteer in children’s ministry.

Resources:

  1. Ask at least two current teachers to review volunteer fair materials.

  2. Karen and I will evaluate possible candidates to invite to volunteer in the children’s ministry.

  3. Work with Chuck to practice ways to invite new teachers to ministry.

Measurements:

  1. By the end of August, I will have prepared materials for the volunteer fair.

  2. By the end of October, I will have invited at least two new people to volunteer in the children’s ministry.

Results

  • For my competence in Christian leadership, I am submitting the teacher schedule for December 2024- July 2025, which demonstrates that I recruited volunteers and provided leadership such that most were willing to sign up for another month of volunteering after their first time teaching. Although I worked hard to make a good presentation for the volunteer fair, I could not recruit all the teachers alone. It was not until the pastor stood in front of the congregation with a sign-up sheet that the schedule was filled. I learned that I need to accept help; sometimes, a more authoritative voice is required to demonstrate the need.

  • As I developed and demonstrated Christian leadership, I have learned that I cannot do everything by myself. I need to rely on other people’s roles and gifting to work together to accomplish the things God has called our church to do. I am encouraged that the people who have signed up to work in children’s ministry have wanted to stay and continue to serve after the first cycle. I can see how important it is to provide a positive environment for teachers. I have learned that it is valuable to listen to their suggestions and implement as much as possible. I have also come to recognize the value of teacher appreciation and using small things to let teachers know how valuable they are.

  • As a result of the experiences documented by these artifacts, I will continue to develop in Christian leadership by reaching out for help from other ministries and individuals to fill the gaps where my giftings are not as strong. I will also continue to listen to teachers and do what I can to implement their ideas and suggestions. I also plan to continue to provide teacher appreciation dinners and gifts to let the teachers know how valuable they are not only to the children’s ministry but also to helping move toward the goals of the church as a whole.
